Our mission
To give every player — whatever their age, background or ability — a welcoming place to play football, and to use the game to bring Auckland’s communities together.
Established 2002 Auckland, New Zealand
A community football club built by the people who play for it, coach it and stand on its sideline every Saturday.
Maiwand FC is a community football club in Auckland. We run six teams across junior, youth, senior and women’s football, and the whole club is built around one simple idea: anyone who wants to play should have somewhere to play.
We’re not a professional academy and we don’t want to be. We’re families, friends and neighbours who love the game — and who think a Saturday on the sideline is one of the best ways there is to bring a community together.
From one team in borrowed shirts to six sides and a tournament of our own.
One team, a borrowed set of shirts and a group of friends who wanted a game on Saturday.
Parents on the sideline asked for a team for their kids. The club’s first junior side took the field.
The senior men entered regional league competition for the first time.
Our first women’s side was formed, and the club finally looked like its community.
A one-day community tournament that put teams from across Auckland on the same field.
More than 280 players and whānau across juniors, youth, seniors and women.
Our mission
To give every player — whatever their age, background or ability — a welcoming place to play football, and to use the game to bring Auckland’s communities together.
Our vision
A club families stay with for generations, where kids who start at six are coaching the next group at twenty-six.
Everyone plays. No trials to turn up, no experience needed.
For opponents, referees, volunteers and each other.
Turn up, work hard and give it a go — results follow.
The sideline is part of the club. Families belong here too.
“The football is the reason we meet. The community is the reason we stay.”
What we do off the pitch matters as much as what happens on it.
School holiday football clinics open to any child in the area — no club membership needed.
Our annual one-day tournament, bringing teams from across Auckland’s communities onto the same field.
Parents and former players coach every junior side, and the club helps fund their coaching courses.
Working with schools, community centres and local businesses to keep football affordable for families.
What a season of community football adds up to, on and off the pitch.
Given by coaches, managers and parents each season.
Represented across our teams and families.
Through free holiday clinics and school sessions.
Bringing Auckland communities onto one field.
Figures cover the 2026 season. Updated after each annual general meeting.
Two things we care about equally — and we don’t think you should have to choose.
On the pitch
Structured training every week, league football for our senior sides and development pathways for juniors who want to push on. We play to win — but we play to improve first.
Off the pitch
Shared kai after games, parents who become coaches, siblings who grow up on the sideline. The friendships built here last long after the final whistle.
The volunteers elected by our members to run the club.
